I can understand now how pivotal this insight is. After many years of feeling that the specificity of this stance was too trivial. Thank you, Bodhin.

I don't understand "less acceptable". When was it ever acceptable? It has only been acceptable to those who choose to ignore the teachings and, importantly, the principles behind them. There can certainly be no justification for consuming flesh when alternatives are available!

I wholeheartedly agree HAKUUN YASUTANI ROSHI. This is a very good precept of non-harm. TheDhamma.com is a great resource for more information about the precept of non-harm. Also DhammaWiki.com and DhammaWheel.com. There is a lot of wisdom at http://www.dhammawiki.com/ Please click the link.

This is an excellent quote. Very excellent. I give it five stars. This is by far the best quote you've posted onto this website. I think that you should include more quotes by this wise man.

Could it be because they feel that if most people are eating meat, so it can't be that wrong, even if their conscience say otherwise? :|

This is a very interesting post zlyrica :)
Sometimes I thought, such strange behaviours that some ppl show may be because they know it inside them that it is not right to eat meat. And this knowledge sort of disturb them, but they can't give up meat as yet. So perhaps they have such reactions and if veg*ns go eat meat after what they say, it sort of provide a sort of relieve to prove that they were right to eat meat. haha.. dunno if that's true, but that's just some of the junk I think of sometimes :)
